Hello and welcome to Mini Miracles Childcare! My name is Janelle Adams and I am a wife to an amazing husband and mother to two children, now in elementary school. As a family, we enjoy spending time in the beautiful outdoors here in Oregon. When the weather permits you will often find us skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping or enjoying one of the beautiful parks here in Bend. I also enjoy teaching Sunday school, trying new healthy recipes, and volunteering in the community.
After spending more than a decade working my way up in a financial corporation, I realized I was longing to use my skills to make a more meaningful impact on people's lives. Early childhood education has always been a passion of mine and I decided to go back to college to study Early Childhood Education. Fast forward a few years... Starting Mini Miracles Childcare has been one the best decisions I've ever made. I love spending my days teaching young children and building relationships with families. There is nothing more fulfilling than providing a fun, safe and educational environment for the children in our community and knowing that a child has gained the foundational skills necessary to succeed long term.
It is my goal to provide an exceptional learning experience in a loving Christian home environment where children in our community can feel safe, loved, and develop a joy for learning. It is my desire to provide the kind of environment for your child that I would have chosen for my own children, where each child is genuinely valued, not just another one of many. I'm inspired by the work of Maria Montessori and Lev Vygotsky in regards to social and emotional learning and I hope to give each child a valuable preschool experience.
For young children to learn and grow they should be in an environment that is warm and friendly where the uniqueness of each child is recognized. Building a relationship with parents is a key part of this journey. I welcome open communication regarding your family and your child.
I believe that children learn by doing. What is meaningful and important to them is what they know, see and feel. This is where we must begin, building on what children already know, helping them explore and better understand their environment, interact in positive ways, and become active learners and helpers. It is my mission to provide your child with a loving home-like environment that is safe, warm and developmentally appropriate while focusing on the "whole child", yielding positive growth and foundational values that will carry over into their later years.
In my program we will focus on kindergarten readiness through daily flexible preschool activities:
✔ Learn Through Play - Studies have shown children learn best by playing and interacting with others. In my program children will have the ability to choose from a variety of activities; reading, building, experimentation, dramatic play, arts and crafts, light table and much more.
✔ Real Life Skills - I encourage learning through real life activities like baking, mixing, measuring, organization, planting, clean up, and using real tools (within safe limits).
✔ Building Positive Relationships - I will help your child learn to interact in positive ways. Rather than intervening every time, I help children come up with their own solutions. Positive reinforcement and reflection are used frequently in my teaching.
✔ Independence - Children will be encouraged to use their words, problem solve, have empathy for others, make their own decisions, and practice self-help and self regulation skills. Self-esteem is developed at an early age and can be made stronger if children have faith in themselves and what they can do.
✔ Experimentation - Activities such as sink and float, color mixing, and gravity with tubes are just a few of the activities your child will participate in. These kind of experiments are excellent for developing a variety of cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Some of the skills I focus on are working together, asking questions, predicting, problem solving, observational skills, and developing and inquisitive mind.
